Prosecutor Lucy Roberts' rites set 11/28/2007 Lucy O'Bert Roberts, a local prosecutor, died Monday. She was 54.
A funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. Services are under the direction of Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home. Roberts was born Feb. 2, 1953, in Los Angeles and moved to Tulsa with her family when she was 5. She attended Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from Edison High School. She received bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Oklahoma State University and taught school for one year before enrolling in the University of Tulsa's law school, from which she graduated in 1979. She then worked for 12 years as a Tulsa County assistant district attorney, where she advanced from handling child-support and mental-health matters to leading a senior trial team and handling felony prosecutions. In 1991, Roberts became an assistant U.S. attorney for the Tulsa-based Northern District of Oklahoma, handling drug and gun prosecutions and working with law enforcement officials on the Project Safe Neighborhoods program. Roberts also showed palomino horses and competed in ropings and team pennings. She married David E. Roberts in 1999. Despite a three-year battle with breast cancer, Roberts continued to handle a difficult caseload until late August, when she accepted medical retirement. She is survived by her husband, David Roberts; her parents, Lawrence "Bud" and Anna Lucy O'Bert of Houston; and a brother, Mike O'Bert of Houston. Friends are making memorial donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure; 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.

Check out the PHBA/OPEA Reichert Celebration Showbill August 11-12, 2007 We will be offering Hunter in Hand for the OPEA shows this year. Please check your rulebook for information on the equipment and attire. Here's what Jordan Miller has to say about this class to the youth: (The class is ONLY offered in Open and Youth.) Hey OPEA youth,
I just wanted to send this email to tell you about a new class being offered this year at OPEA shows. It is tons of fun. I got to experience it for the first time in Waco, TX. Now, I wan't to tell you early because you have to have some kind of different clothing. The horse is easy, it just uses a English bridle with a straight snaffle bit. You, on the other hand, must wear khaki pants, a conservative color (either) short-sleeve polo shirt or a Oxford button down, tennis shoes, a plain belt (not of western type) and NO hat. The pattern is very simple too. You just walk up to the judges set up in a open postion (all four feet visable by the both judges), the you just walk around 3 cones in a small triangle, then trot the 3 cones. It's really easy. I just wanted to challenge all of you to try the new class. I can talk to some of you at the show too if you have any questions. Thanks!! Jordan Miller P.S. All of these rules are found on pg. 97 of the rulebooks. A tribute to the great horse "A Predator" has been added to the Profiles page. 3-1-2007 The photos from the awards banquet are now posted! Please click HERE to see the album. The awards list will be posted as soon as I get the information. 2-19-2007 THERE WILL BE A MEMBERSHIP MEETING AT 6:00 P.M., FEB. 24, BEFORE THE DINNER AND AWARDS BANQUET. THE OPEA MEMBERSHIP WILL VOTE ON THE FINAL REVISED DOCUMENT OF THE 'OPEA BY-LAWS'. Please read the FINAL REVISED DOCUMENT OF THE 'OPEA BY-LAWS' here. 2-16-2007 Our condolences go out to the Ohler family on the loss of Erin Ohler Teague's sister, Aneice Rodriguez who died last Friday, the 9th and her funeral is on February 17, in Claremore.
