September 2007

Hi Everyone!

The Labor Day show was a BIG success. I hope everyone had fun. I think we need to thank the show committee and office staff for doing such a great job! I really think that the 4 day show schedule helped a lot!!!!! I wanted to congratulate our high point winners: 5-9: Savannah Gilman, 13&under: Jordan Miller, and 14-18: Lynse Lagers! Everyone did such a great job and it was really nice to see everyone there!

I hope I am not the only one that is tired of school already. Although, it is nice to see all of your friends.

I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the show season, and I can't wait to see y'all again!

In Christ,
Jordan Miller

July 2007

Hi Everyone!!

I hope everyone is excited about the world show! Remember everyone needs to do 2 12"X12" scrapbook pages of you and your horse. I realize that some of you don't have Palominos any more so your current horses would be great! Also, we decided at the Memorial Day circuit that everyone was responsible for making 100 paper snow flakes (about the size of a paper napkin). I think we are going to work on the stall decorations on Monday. I think whenever you could show up would be great! I know I will be there just about all day.

I also wanted to take a chance to recognize all of the OPEA youth that will be competeing at the World.

Bailey Murphy w/ Impressive One Note

Riley Westfall w/ Saw Possibilites

Jordan Miller w/ Zips Gold Copykat

Paige Murphy w/ You Bet Zipper

Lynse Lagers w/ Case Seven

Amelia Crites w/ Time For Ruffles

Sara Shepherd w/ Audreys Boy George

Anna Fisher w/ Big Time Jazz Man

Kaycee Reimer w/ Heza Smash Hit

I know all of you will do wonderful. Have a great world show! Good Luck!

June 2007

Hi Everyone!!

First of all I would like to congratulate Jordan Hobbs for 5-9 high point, Shelby Davis for 13 and Under, and Lynse Lagers for 14-18 at the Memorial Day Show. Everyone did an excellent job, and looked like they were having fun doing it. Memorial Day was a pretty big show for the youth. We really need to keep inviting friends to our shows so our numbers will grow!

We had a meeting at the show on Sunday night. It was kind of a quickly decided meeting, so we'll fill you in if you missed it. We mainly discussed what we are doing for our Parade of States and Stall Decorations for the world. We are going to have another meeting before the World, so keep looking for that. Also, we decided on everyone being responsible for two 12" X 12" pieces of scrap booking paper to go in our scrapbook. Thank you Jordan Bolger for taking candid pictures for the scrapbook, Monday. These pages are your responsibility to get together with pictures of you and a palomino (preferably), or another horse. They can be pictures of when you were little with your first pony, or recent show that you went to. Try to make it as personable as possible. Really go all out on this one. Cristin will provide the scrapbook for us. I want to keep our stall decorating ideas TOP SECRET, so call me if you weren't  there for the meeting and I will fill you in. I think it will really be above and beyond.

I want to take a short moment to thank all of you guys for being so wonderful! Thanks for really taking an extra step to make this year amazing! I know we can do it. It takes a lot to make something really good, but we can do it. One last thing, if any of you have other friends that live in OK that are showing at the world show call me.

In Christ,
Jordan Miller

May 2007

Hi OPEA Youth!!

This month is very exciting! We really have a lot to do. At the May 5th and 6th show, I would like to have a meeting, probably Saturday night. Tell me if that doesn't work for you. At the meeting, we need to discuss what materials we each person needs to get to make the front of our stalls (at the world) amazing!

I attended the Executive Board meeting held on Sunday. I just wanted to see what was going on in our association. A new class was added to the show schedule too. This is Hunter In Hand. I wanted to make sure that you knew about this class if you were going to show. A English bridle is mandatory, with a smooth snaffle bit on it. Attire for the handler should permit free movement. Color must conservative. Suitable attire shall be a collared polo shirt or collared dress shirt (solid colored and either white or another conservative color), vest, tie and gloves (optional). Dress pants should be loose enough in which to run. If a belt is worn, it should be plain, not of western type or style. Jeans are forbidden. Running shoes ore paddock boots are required. If you have any questions about anything in this class, the pattern and this information is found on pg. 97 of the rulebook, or you can contact me at my cell or home numbers. Thanks!!

I am challenging all of you to get out there and try this new class. It really is different, but really FUN!!

In Christ,
Jordan Miller

April 2007

Hey OPEA Youth!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the Spring as much as I am! I love Spring!! Not only is it a beautiful time, but the shows are getting ready to start up.

I am sooo excited school is almost out. It will make it much easier to haul doing the Spring and Summer months without tons of homework. The only bad part about that would be that finals are coming up. :(   I really want to challenge yourselves to do the best that you can these last weeks of school.

Makes sure to start thinking of ideas for the World Show, so that we can talk them over at the May show. I can't wait to see everyone there. Still on the subject of World, make sure that you start thinking about what classes you want to enter, so you can get your entries in on time.

Keep working hard on school! Have fun this Spring and definately keep working with your horses so that you both may be the best you can be. Don't give up!!!

In Christ,
Jordan Miller

March 2007

Hey Everyone!!

I am so sorry this letter is a little late. I thought it would be a good idea to report on the Convention.

I am really sorry if you couldn't go. It was a lot of fun!! We had a really good Leadership Seminar that Ms. Colbert lead. We learned how to stand up for the Youth Association and to come up with our own ideas. This really came into play later in the Convention. We did brainstorming excercises and team-building. All of the youth that attend I think really bonded together. We really learned to understand each other.

Later in the day, the youth had there Executive Board meeting. We discussed rule changes, problems in the association, and how to make this year's World Show amazing. Some of the activites include:
-Parade of States                          -Sundowner T-Shirt Throw                   -Progressive Dinner
-Stick Horse Race                         -Round Robin                                    -Sponsorhsips
-Pizza Party                                  -Drysdales Giveaway                             -Each APA help to get 1 sponsorship (class etc.)
-Lunches served Daily                    -Top Five Class Awards                      -Class Medallions
-World Champion Rosettes             -Scooters to All-Around youth             -New and Improved Reserve Youth Awards
     -Youth Dance                                -Team Tournament

If anyone has any questions about the Convention you can email me at palominoprincess612@gmail.com. I really think that this year is going to be AWESOME!!!!

In Christ,
Jordan Miller

February 2007

Hi Everyone!!!!

I can't believe it's already February. It seems like the winter is going by so fast. I hope everyone was safe during our last snow storm. It was really fun missing school for a week!!! I have talked to some of you about the Parade of States. I have heard many good ideas. Everyone keep thinking! The World show seems like it's really far away, but it will be here before you know it. I think this year we should try to get together as often as possible, whether it's every month or every two months. Cristin and I were talking about having a meeting before the Award Banquet, so be prepared for that! Bring all your great ideas too. We really need to work hard this year on winning Parade of States and Stall Decorating, but I think this year we should do more of the work. In the past, Cristin has done a lot of it. If I am doing the scrapbook for this year, I really need pictures. I think it would be a great idea to have a Reporter or Photographer for the shows. That person would be in charge of taking all the "behind the show ring pics". I can't wait for the World Show!! I hope everyone is excited as I am!!! Well if you have any questions you can email me at palominoprincess612@gmail.com or you can call me at home (455-2022) or on my cell (510-3959). Thanks!!

-Jordan Miller
